Neck & Jaw Relief

NEUROMUSCULAR DENTISTRY

Do you suffer from chronic jaw, neck or head pain?

When we close our mouths, 70% to 80% of us have a non-ideal bite, otherwise known as a malocclusion. Most of us can live with it just fine, but some of us experience head, neck, and back problems, muscle pain, nerve problems, headaches, ear issues, or worn teeth. Malocclusion can also affect nerves, diminishing strength, balance, and flexibility.

NEUROMUSCULAR DENTISTRY

Neuromuscular Dentistry is used to evaluate and adjust the way that your teeth, temporomandibular (jaw) joints and head and neck muscles work, or more importantly don’t work, together.

If your bite is not ideal you might have Temporomandibular Joint Disorder. Other names for this condition include Temporal Mandibular Dysfunction (TMD) and Craniomandibular Disorder (CMD).

Neuromuscular Dentistry optimizes your bite by relaxing your muscles, eliminating existing muscular pain, and allowing your joints to move smoothly, creating relief from chronic jaw, neck and head pain. Your symptoms can seem totally unrelated to teeth and dentistry, but the root of the issue is often bite misalignment.

People suffering from neck, jaw or head pain often wander from one specialist to another. Physicians, chiropractors, neurologists, physiotherapists and osteopaths often cannot, however, find a basis for the symptoms. Neuromuscular Dentistry can identify and treat chronic head, jaw and neck pain caused by bite misalignment.

PERMANENT PAIN RELIEF

Dr. Miller is trained in Neuromuscular Dentistry. He regularly diagnoses malocclusion issues and prescribes treatment to alleviate chronic pain. Treatments typically begin with the use of electrical stimulation (TENSing) to relax the jaw muscles. This enables Dr. Miller to find the ideal bite position—one in which the muscles of the head and neck no longer cause pain. Solutions can be as simple as creating custom orthotics to permanently rehabilitate the bite.
