Your healthcare family!
Since launching his family practice in February 2003, Dr. Miller and his entire healthcare team have worked hard to create a friendly, accessible environment for families with children, to seniors, and those with special needs.
When you walk into a place where people really and truly work in sync, you can feel it. Everything flows a little better and staff are happier. We love what we do—you’ll rarely see us without smiles on our faces!
Every member of our healthcare team is committed to lifelong learning and exceptional patient care, whether we are chairside with our patients, on the phone, or behind the scenes.
Here is our complete team lineup:
Dr. Miller is a perfectionist for whom the very best result is the only option. “I want to provide every one of our patients with the best quality dentistry possible,” he says. “We make use of the latest technology and the entire team is dedicated to lifelong learning and to the highest levels of patient care, service and communications.”
Dr. John Miller learned the skills he uses today at the University of Western Ontario and the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI). He honed them in a yearlong residency at the Hospital for Sick Children and in the practice of long-time Collingwood dentist Dr. Farrell Anderson.
Dr. Miller was born and raised in Mac Tier near Parry Sound, Ontario. He was a competitive tennis player throughout his teens, which led him to Collingwood for the first time. The decision to practice in Collingwood was based on Dr. Miller’s lifelong commitment to an active lifestyle and his desire to find a vital community in which to live and work.
Upon moving to Collingwood in June 2000, Dr. Miller forged links in the local health care community. He started up a dental study group and obtained operating privileges at the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital where he treats young children and other patients with sedation.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Miller is active in the Collingwood community, supporting a wide variety of community organizations. He is proud to be a charter member of the Rotary Club of Collingwood-South Georgian Bay and an active member of CrossFit Indestri Collingwood.
Dr. Sam Goodman,
Dr. Sam Goodman was born and raised in Markham, Ontario. Sam’s passion for oral health was sparked at a young age as he grew up watching his father do what he loved most – dentistry. Sam graduated from McMaster University with an Honours degree in Health Sciences and a Master’s of Business Administration. He went on to study dentistry and graduated with distinction from Western University.
Sam is an avid soccer player, playing for Canada at the Maccabiah Games in Israel and representing Ontario at the Canadian Nationals. He was also a member of the McMaster Marauders varsity soccer team, so sports is a big part of what he loves to do in his spare time. He also enjoys snowboarding, skiing, hiking, scuba, and basically any sport he can find time to play.
Sam spent the summer of 2014 providing needed dental outreach care to communities in Tanzania, Africa. He hopes to make outreach work an integral part of his dental career.
Sam and his wife Shannon, son Tobin, and dog Tommy are excited to call the Blue Mountains their home and are looking forward to becoming involved in the community. Growing up skiing in the area, Sam has developed an appreciation for the sense of community and natural beauty that the Blue Mountains area has to offer.
Certified Dental Assistant Level II, Office Manager
Jamie graduated from Georgian College in 2000 as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) Level II. She is our Office Manager and has been part of the Healthcare Team for over five years. As a member of the Ontario Dental Assistants Association for over 11 years, she has served as Vice President of her affiliate. Jamie is dedicated to continuing education and certification, and has attended the LVI Institute for Advanced Dental Studies in Nevada. Jamie and her husband are happy to be raising their family here—their young daughter keeps them very busy!
Elizabeth enjoys interacting with all of our patients and strives to ensure that every visit is a positive one. Elizabeth’s background includes a wealth of administrative experience in both healthcare and business management. She has worked at Princess Margaret Hospital and for a local orthopaedic surgeon, as well as heading up a department at Blue Mountain Resorts for 11 years. In her spare time you will find her on the Georgian Trail either hiking or snowshoeing, skiing at Blue or working out at the gym. She also likes travel, theatre and hockey. The one thing she loves the most, however, is spending time with her daughter, Ashley.
Certified Dental Assistant Level II
Jennifer is a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA II) with over 20 years’ experience. She is committed to lifelong learning, including continuing education at the LVI Global Institute in Nevada, alongside Dr. Miller. “It’s very important that we learn and grow together, perfecting our teamwork,” explains Dr. Miller. Jen brings that invaluable experience, dedication and her natural kindness to her work with our patients, every day. Jen’s kind-heartedness is also reflected in her home life, with her husband Terry and their two boys, Adam and Andrew. As a family, they foster animals with special needs. In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys the creative outlet of digital photography.
Registered Dental Hygienist
Linda joined the Miller Healthcare Team several years ago and loves her career as a Dental Hygienist. Linda has been a clinical instructor for over twenty years, and currently teaches at George Brown College in Toronto. “We want to please our patients by providing them with the best technology, education and tools,” says Linda. “I have a strong interest in periodontal health and, like the rest of the team, I’m always excited to learn new techniques. Most importantly, I can really relate to patients who are anxious about ‘the dentist’ and treatments – I understand that fear myself, so I always do my best to support patients before and after their visits.” Linda’s life in Collingwood is a busy one as she skis, snowshoes and plays tennis.
Registered Dental Hygienist
After six years of Dental Assisting, Karla returned to school and graduated from Maxwell College of Advanced Technology for Dental Hygiene with honours, where she made the Dean’s List. A community Dental Hygiene award winner, Karla has made use of her wealth of knowledge as a hygienist and assistant since joining our office in 2010.
Originally from Kingston, Karla has been enjoying all that Collingwood has to offer. When not travelling home to spend time with her family and boyfriend, Karla spends her free time snowboarding, hiking with her dog and decorating cakes. An advocate for lifelong fitness, Karla has recently begun learning the art of aerial silks.
Certified Level II Dental Assistant
A recent transplant to the area, Debbie joined our practice in 2013. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Debbie graduated with Honours from the Level II Dental Assisting program at Red River College in 2007. She also won the Sunstar GUM award in Preventive Education. Patient education is a passion of Debbie’s, and she always strives to make sure that our patients are well informed about their dental health and treatment.
Bilingual in English and French, Debbie has enjoyed travelling across Canada and abroad, and is now happy to be raising her family here. In her spare time, Debbie enjoys yoga, swimming, and getting to know the Georgian Triangle with her husband and their young son.
Registered Dental Hygienist
Christina graduated to full time employment with our clinic in late 2014. She has always had an interest in dentistry and decided to make a career of it, enrolling in the Dental Assisting program at Cambrian College in Sudbury. But it was only in the Georgian College Dental Hygiene program in Orillia that she found just the right fit. Christina enjoys keeping up to date with new advancements in technique and technology in order to provide the best care to her patients. In her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors and volunteering with the O.S.P.C.A. Through her experience with volunteering, Christina and her husband Dave have welcomed 3 wonderful rescues, 2 cats and a dog, into their family.
